Stephen and his MCR Sportster : 22 years of travel!
Stephen Green is one of our customers. This 54-year-old British software designer has logged 1,200 flying hours as a private pilot. An avid traveler with a passion for discovery foreign countries, he hesitated for a long time between learning to navigate at sea or flying in the air. In the end, he opted for the latter, as he would be working in Switzerland, where it is “difficult” to travel by boat…
So, in 2000, he passed his pilot’s license, and by 2001, he realized that if he wanted to travel freely and, above all, cheaply, he would have to own his plane. However, he had to face up to the reality that owning his own machine was quite an investment!
“I wanted to avoid owning anything ‘too big’ which might be cheap to buy, but expensive to operate.”

Still in 2001, it was at Dijon-Darois that he discovered the MCR Sportster. After a test flight, he was won over by the aircraft’s performance, fuel efficient and small size – in short, by its low operating cost. So he bought a kit and, equipped with a 100hp Rotax 912ULS and a constant-speed MT Propeller, his Sportster made its first flight in 2002.

It’s worth pointing out that in the early days of his travels, smartphones weren’t as advanced, flight plans were made on paper, and F-PZAM’s original GPS was a modest Garmin 195 with a tiny screen. It overheated and always went out when I needed it most,” recalls Stephen Green.
In 2015, at its owner’s request, the F-PZAM will be modernized by SE Aviation Aircraft with, among other things, a Dynon Skyview, a two-axis autopilot, LED strobe lights, repositioning of the voltage regulator, and installation of the new flap system to optimize the machine’s safety. So, modified by us, the machine becomes an MCR Sportster Evolution.

Since then, the aircraft has always been maintained by SE Aviation, and for the owner, maintenance elsewhere is out of the question: safety first! Moreover, it’s not just his own safety that’s at stake, since the pilot-traveler has since married, and his wife, Annette, is as passionate about aviation as he is.

What’s more, air travel has become a real team work for the couple, with Stephen in charge of flight planning, and Annette in charge of destination selection, sightseeing programs and logistics in the countries visited. Inseparable, Stephen can’t imagine traveling with his Sportster Evolution without Annette. For him, it wouldn’t make sense…
So, we wish you good flights to you, Mr and Mrs Green!

When Stephen speaks about his Sportster Evolution…
I never regretted my choice, even 22 years later! Over the years the quality of my plane has improved considerably, made possible by Éric and SE Aviation Aircraft. What’s more, I found out that I am rarely happier than when travelling with Annette and F-PZAM, in what I call easy cruising mode: with the auto-pilot ON, at FL75 on a nice day, somewhere in the skies of Europe.

Quoi de neuf chez SE AVIATION AIRCRAFT?
Back to Fly’In MCR 2023

On September 9, the Fly’In MCR 2023 took place at Pontarlier airfield. And, let’s face it, it was a real success!
It has to be said that all the lights were green, with lots of participants and dream weather: big blue skies over Europe, and no wind.

At SE Aviation Aircraft, it was a great pleasure to see you all together and to talk about the passion that unites us: MCR aircraft and microlights.

Let’s sum up the day in figures. The Fly’In MCR 2023 was :
• 80 people,
• 6 countries represented
• 36 aircraft,
• 40 kg of food,
• 50 litres of beer,
• 15 litres of wine.

And as we hadn’t forgotten those who had to pilot on the way back:
• 30 litres of alcohol-free beer,
• 15 litres of lemonade.
And above all…
• 1 ton of good mood!
